Hidden Hertford – Fore Street

From your last stop in Bell Lane walk a few yards to Church Street. At the end of Church Street there is a subway which will take you to All Saints Church. Nestling between Bell Lane and Church Street is the (14) Salisbury Ams Hotel, known as The Bell from as early as 1431 until bought from the Marquess of Salisbury in 1830. A little further along is (15) Lussmans remarkable for the Egyptian design of the frontage. Almost next door is (16) The Practitioner with a plaque in the wall commemorating Samuel Stone. Opposite is the (17) Corn Exchange built in 1840. Retrace your steps and tjurn tight down Market Street and then right. You will come to the (18) Friends Meeting House. Built in 1670 and has remained in constant use ever since. Go back towards (19) Lea Wharf turn right to the river and then left which will bring you back to the Museum.
