The underlined links will bring up a photo and a brief description.
The Hidden Hertford tour begins at (1) Hertford Museum. Turn left and you will be outside the (2) Lombard House, home to the Hertford Club. Continue a few yards and stand on Folly Bridge. To the right is the Lea Navigation. To the left is (4) Nicholas Lane. Across the river is the (3) Old Barge. Retrace your steps to the (5) Community Health Centre where you will see a plaque set into the wall and the holes of six screws. This was to disguise the location from any enemy during WW2. On the opposite side of the road is (6) Beadle House. You are standing outside a new retail establishment where once stood the (7) The Bull pub after which this street is named. Ahead is Salisbury Square and the (8) Shire Hall. Walk along Maidenhead Street and at turn right. Opposite is the statue of (9) Samuel Stone, founder of Hartford, Connecticut, USA.
Now go on the next stage of your tour, St Andrew Street.

I have published a paperback tour of Hertford including the full Hidden Hertford tour with more photographs and descriptions costing just £6.99 from Amazon.
