One billion litres of methane

More than one billion litres of methane gas a day is released in New Zealand by sheep.

The contractions of a sheep’s bowels in one day can turn about 20 litres of gas.

The population of over 70 million sheep is enough to power a car the distance of the sun and back more than 75 times.
