When John Barber began delving into the local history of Camden Town it was because his parents had lived there when they first married, and his findings were intended as no more than a trip down memory lane for members of his family But John who is better known locally as the indefatigable town centre manager for Hertford, found his knowledge and expertise was soon in such high demand that it has led unexpectedly to a new book — The Camden Town Murder — which has just been published, and a forthcoming BBC TV appearance.
