Missing ship
An air and sea search was launched in the South Atlantic for a combined supertanker and iron ore carrier whose sister ship sank without trace four years previously in the Pacific.

Welders were working on the deck of the Berge Vanga when the ship left Brazil. One theory is that sparks from the welding could have caused the explosions which can happen when oil tanks are not cleaned thoroughly.
