Only English ladies required
A California millionaire instructed a London based firm of management consultants
to find English ladies to work in San Francisco for up to £26,000 a year, plus a
Mercedes car.
The magnate who is in his mid 40’s is laying down strict conditions in return for
these unique contracts. The women must be aged 28 to 34, non-smokers in the office
and ‘discreet, honest, loyal and caring’. If they leave him within four years, they
must repay all their removal, airline, hotel, legal and other expenses. But they
can retire on full salary after 20 years service.
The agency’s client wants a lawyer, an accountant, a librarian and three administrative
personal assistants, all qualified The librarian and the assistants will get £14,000,
plus a Mercedes.
The four-year stipulation is to discourage women from accepting the posts for a lark,
then quitting after six months.
The agency confirmed that the client has said nothing else but English ladies. It’s
an image building operation. Image is very important. Having English ladies in the
office is a bit of a gimmick. It’s not unusual for Americans to like their accents
and personalities. It’s an absolutely marvellous opportunity - and one which you
would never expect to see again.
